Jolanta Šalkauskaitė was born in 1966 in Galaičiai (Telšiai district), From 1984 to 1989 she studied Lithuanian literature at Vilnius University. of the Arts in Philadelphia, and held the first exhibition of her work at the Lithuanian Cultural Center of Philadelphia. Jolanta started her career as a professional painter in 2001 after completing Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in painting at Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts. She joined the Lithuanian Artists’ Union in 2002 and  held ten personal exhibitions in Vilnius, Telšiai, Kretinga, etc. She also graduated from the Higher School of Catechesis in Kaunas in 2001.
