Egle Rakauskaite is an artist that specialises in performances, sculpture, objects, installations, video films and video installations. In 1993 she graduated majoring in Painting studies at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, and has been participating in exhibitions since 1994. In 1999 her works were represented in the first Lithuanian Venice Biennale. During her painting studies, influenced by fashion design classmates (Juozas Statkevičius, Sandra Straukaitė), Eglė created several alternative fashion collections. Her work is characterised by a wide spectrum of expression, from the use of the body and organic materials to participatory art and the creation of virtual communities.
