Jolanta Salkauskaite
Jolanta‘s paintings represent Christian themes inspired by living faith practice. The pastel cycle “Seven Savior’s Words from the Cross”, which dates back to her year of study, has become an inexhaustible and constantly updated subject. Such intuitive expression does not require any external motive. Watching Yolanta’s expressive strokes, colours and images, which seem to appear “briefly” on canvas, the most important thing is to recognize her inner emotions, not just search for the meaning of her paintings. Her paintings are distinguished by a peculiar interpretation of religious themes, highly expressive, spontaneous expression, inclined to a generalized form, and sensitive nuances of mood. Jolanta’s work is silent, unpretentious, arising from an inner necessity, painting in images – sacred spaces and motifs, merging with her own experiences, experiences and elements of the environment. In contemporary art, this work is interesting precisely as a peculiar reflection of the Catholic worldview. |
