Juozapas Antanas Gelguda
The themes of J. A. Gelguda paintings in water-colours are cosmic visions, landscapes and fragments of world around, images of Lithuanian nature or “reminiscences” about voyage. He can admire by lyric and pure fragments of surroundings and at the same moment crush with sharp consonance of bright colours. However, one feature always betrays the author: the straight stroke of the flat brush, somewhere – sharp and dry, somewhere – pure and transparent. The little visible through lay one above another creating new combinations of colours, or cuts through the space of painting with bold strong stroke. The space with colour strokes is specific feature of J. A. Gelguda. Egle Jaskuniene |
